Well it's not February or March or May...it's June and I'm going to resume work again this coming weekend. Bout time. First up is...I have no idea, I haven't seen the car in 3 months. I'll update after I start work on it again.

For those who care, progess with be at a near stand still until February because I'll be remodeling my house. I am buying parts here and there, but I won't be doing anything worthy of note until February.

How bout these apples!?

Got some wheels. I thought I wouldn't be getting these until I was closer to the end, but I need them for suspension setup reasons. They are 16x8 American Racing, Salt Flat Specials with 215/40/16 Goodyears. It took me forever to decide on a wheel and tire combo, because I wanted to have the fattest tire possible that didn't have a side wall taller than 3.5" tall. More so I needed to keep the overall diameter under 23". These tires have an 8.5" tread width. I struggled with putting 16's on a rabbit because I really wanted 13's, but this was the best combo. I might end up getting drag tires on maybe 13's or 14's so I can fit a tall side wall under the rear arches. Anyway, that's all for now. I won't be doing all that much in the next month because of Chrismas and I'm buying a house and doing improvements on it.

Slow Going

Well I haven't been doing much lately. I did start cleaning and stripping the unibody frame rails. I'm still trying to figure out what way I want to strip the body with. I'm not going with a chemical bath because it's too expensive. I'm also not going to pay someone to sandblast it. So that leaves it all up to me. I'm most likely going to do a combination of paint stripper and sandblasting. Anyway, I have decided on wheels; salt flat specials. However, I can't decide how wide to get them. I need some advice with that. I'm thinking about 15x8's but I'm still not sure what tire size to run. Anyway, here is a quick p-chop of the wheels on my beater.

Axle/Knuckle/Headers

Well I haven't posted anything for a while because I kept forgetting to bring my camera to the shop. So the latest things I bought was the 96' Cobra rear axle for $150, front Mustang II drop spindles $50, and Stainless full length headers for $300. Not bad if you ask me. I thought I was going to have to spend a lot more on and axle and definitely on headers. Anyway, I think I have everything I need to get started on the frame; except for the material for the frame. Like I mentioned before, I'm going to mock it up in 2x4's to get a start on how it will fit. I think once I'm done with that I'll take all my measurements and plug it into 3D using ProE. That way I can run an FEA (Finite Element Analysis) to see how well it resists torque and weight. Well that's all for now, I included a pic of my little 125cc dirt bike which occupied most of my time last Friday when I was supposed to be working on my car. The only thing I got done was crappy horizontial braces you can see in one of the pics.

Engine Hoist & Rear End

So I've been trying to get these pics up for over a week now, but blogger wasn't having it. Anyway, they are up now. I got an engine hoist finally from Harbor Freight for $150. I can't believe it was that cheap. There is no chance in hell that I could build it for that price. Gotta love China for that. Anyway, I also bought a 96 Mustang Cobra rear axle assembly off of ebay. I will be picking that up tomorrow. Next thing is to lay out the parts in the car and start designing a chassis. I'm looking for front spindles at the moment. I'm considering Mustang II 2" drop spindles, but I have to check on the bolt pattern of the rotors. If they are the same as the '96 Cobra's, then I'll get them. I figure I should try to stick with as little different donor car parts as possible. It will become a nightmare trying to sort it all out, when I need replacement parts. "What car did that part come from!?" Anyway, I hope to make some time to do some serious chassis planning and work soon.
